Dan finally samples the gift beer from Europe (Pilsen to be exact) that came via his sister-in-law, Elaine…Pivovar Raven Laid To Waste Double IPA.

Pivovar Raven Laid To Waste Double IPA

So apparently this brew was named and brewed for a thrash metal band. Rock on. This American-style double IPA weighs in at 9% ABV and stocks a hefty 82 IBUs. Translation states, ” a deodorant mingle with the delicate aroma of sweat and dried blood.” Right…

Appearance

Tremendous carbonation and huge fluffy and fast-dissipating head, with an orange/copper color. Left interesting lacing on the glass as it warms up.

Aroma

Delicate, floral bouquet with a hint of mustiness from the hops.

Taste

Finish is sweet, with bitterness attempting to fight back. I could not taste the 9% ABV, more like 7%.

Mouthfeel

Medium, more hop syrup-like body.

Overall

A European version of an East Coast Double IPA if was to try and nail it down for a comparison. Very intriguing, as it shifted a little as it warmed up. The translation of their site indicates a “top-secret brutal metal American mix” for the hops. If you happen to run across it, please give me your thoughts.
Cheers and remember:
