Dan meets (and tastes) Threes Brewing Vliet’s edgier big brother, Super Vliet, as part of a recent lager binge.
Threes Brewing Super Vliet
STYLE: Can-conditioned German-style Pilsner
INGREDIENTS: German Pilsner Malt; Czech Saaz and German Spalt Select hops
ABV: 5.1%
IBU: N/A
AVAILABILITY: 16oz Cans, Draft (Limited)
Stats above taken from the brewery’s can, website, and Untappd.
Appearance
Yellow/golden in color with a sizable, white, fluffy head.
Aroma
Hop resin was the first note to hit my nose with floral and herbal essences following.
Taste
Earthy and herbal hops hit through the mid-palate with some floral notes on the finish.
Mouthfeel
Crisp and dry like Vliet, with a bit more weight and mouth-coating feel.
Overall
This definitely feels like an edgier big brother of Vliet, with the hop presence and mouthfeel being distinctly different though both are at the same ABV. As a German-style, that type of fare would still work well, but try pizza, wings or other bar food.
Cheers and remember:
