Episode #228: Grimm Cherry Raspberry Pop

Dan is finally getting back to tasting on a more regular schedule, so he dips into a tasty Berliner Weisse — Grimm Cherry Raspberry Pop!

Grimm Cherry Raspberry Pop!

This is Grimm’s “Creamsicle-Inspired Dessert Berliner w/ Cherries, Raspberries, Vanilla, and Milk Sugar”, weighing in at 4% ABV.

Appearance

Beautiful pinkish color, reminiscent of cherry or raspberry juice similar to Weyerbacher Riserva.

Aroma

Juicy! Cherry and raspberry play a big part, but the bouquet smells as if it was mixed with clementine juice a la Tequila Sunrise.

Taste

Fruit punch baby! Tartness and dryness dominate the finish, but super clean and drinkable.

Mouthfeel

The acidity cuts the tongue just a little bit, and the dryness and carbonation (and the fact it was really cold) helped this slide across my palate effortlessly even for a Berliner Weisse.

Overall

As it warmed up, there was even more nuances on the nose and palate. The lactose definitely played its part well in this, but it also allowed the fruit to shine. If you manage to come across this, I would definitely recommend it.
Cheers and remember:
Life’s a tap…drink up ’til it’s dry.
