Dan cracks open the Governor’s Cup Award-winning brew from Wild East Brewing, their Hexenkessel schwarzbier.
Wild East Brewing Company Hexenkessel
STYLE: Schwarzbier
ABV: 4.7%
IBU: 25
AVAILABILITY: 16 oz cans/draft (Seasonal)
Stats above taken from the packaging/website/Untappd.
Appearance
Super dark black with a tan, fluffy head.
Aroma
Shaved chocolate and cocoa lead for me on this.
Taste
Dark chocolate meets espresso roast, but super well-balanced.
Mouthfeel
Dry finish, light mouthfeel, and balanced carbonation.
Overall
I could see myself having a number of these, as it is pure delicious. Pairing-wise, I always go barbecue with schwarzbier, but hamburgers, charcuterie, or any meat-based dish has a shot to that end. Would really love to see this in cask.
Cheers and remember:
