Episode #222: Softly Spoken Magic Spells

Fresh back after being sick for about a month, Dan jumps straight back in with a Double IPA from Singlecut Beersmiths, Softly Spoken Magic Spells. With his vortex manipulator on, his palate is actually taken on a hop/malt ride.

Singlecut Beersmiths Softly Spoken Magic Spells

Created from their brewmaster’s recipe, Softly Spoken Magic Spells features a Scottish Malt and 130 IBU Pacific Northwest hop bill to weigh in at 8.6% ABV.
Also, if you’re in NYC over Christmas and want to do a little drinking on Boxing Day (aka the 26th), join Dan and Dad On Tap and more of the crew for the Boxing Day Pub Crawl! Contact Dan for details.

Appearance

Golden, yellow/orange in color with a fluffy white head, large bubbles of carbonation and some residual lacing.

Aroma

Beautiful nose which I want to wear as a cologne. Pacific Northwest brings a pine and citrus blend with a hint of resin in the back.

Taste

Tremendous balance. Hops and malt battle it out with former eeking out the win on the finish. The hops are not overbearing at all and the ABV is virtually undetectable.

Mouthfeel

Medium body with the large bubbles of carbonation adding to the dryness on the palate. It totally makes you come back for more.

Overall

Totally want to have a spicy Thai salad with this. That being said I like having this by itself to dissect the nuances from the brewmaster’s recipe. Wish I had more bottles to share!
Cheers and remember:
